Conclusion

Celebrity Sherbet has been a successful project for me in many ways. I have been able to develop many of the skills that I wish to use in a work environment and in my own personal practice. I have become more confident in dealing with external elements such as printing companies and event organisers. I have learnt to document all my work effectively and ensuring that it is kept up to date, with constant work being produced and a high degree of discipline to meet deadlines in my schedule.

As the project’s structure and goal’s were set out by me, I was able to focus on something that interested me and that I know I want to get into in the near future for my career. I didn’t want to make the same mistakes that I did in the specialist project and spend time making something which wasn’t to be a high professional level which would result in me wasting my time and effort.

I feel that Celebrity Sherbet has come to the desired end for the Project, I created Five t-shirt designs, I used an existing structure to produce a fully working web store and created a Facebook group to promote the clothing brand. I wanted to produce some street art, but found I needed to prioritise and do better forms of self promotion, this came up unplanned, being the fashion show I did at the Royal Bath Hotel, this then led to another fashion at Bar So, which meant that my brand would get noticed in an appropriate environment by people interested in a similar area. By doing the fashions shows I saw that for every new event I need to plan for them and not be unprepared.

The Project has been fun as I was able to explore illustrations, fashion design, branding, production of a product, photography, image manipulation, filming, film editing, web design, marketing via events and social media. I believe this will show to industry that I am a well rounded person that can deal with most tasks.

Re-in-acting what is on the tee

Sniffing tee vid

Without this photo shoot being to risky, there wasn’t much I could do in as much as a prop so I just took the images of him wearing the tee.

I tried to make this photoshoot more playful by making Amal put some of the alphabet letter sweets in his mouth. We tried to speel out ‘Celeb’ but that was far too many sweets so we opted for just ‘C S’ I thought it was quite a fun one, taking the mick out of gangsta’s with gold teeth and all of that.

A fundamental part of buying clothes, is seeing what they look like on someone, what is the fit like or where does the graphic sit on it. It is also another great way for expressing ideas and showing props or locations. For this photo shoot, I wanted to use the gameboy as a prop, I think it sends the message more of a retro gamer who just cant put his gameboy down and is totally sucked into this small LCD world.

Old vs New Fashion show at Bar So.

Documenting the fashion show and the various models sporting my brand.

Here I am, creating a light box using my old one with a ‘Celebrity Sherbet’ facelift. You can see the steps I took in making it, it did take a while. First using illustrator to create the right size letters for the box, I then printed this out onto normal A4 paper and using a craft knife, I cut around the edges of all the letters. This gave me an outline to put onto the black vinyl which I was going to use to stick to the acryic part of the light box.

The whole process of cutting out the paper tracing it onto the vinyl to then cut out again was very time consuming and cost about 5-6 hours to produce. I think it was worth it, as it did look good at the show and it looked professional enough to look like I hadn’t made it.

I got thinking about how I wanted my brand’s identity to be different from most that are found in shops. I wanted to give something back to the people who bought one of gameboy t-shirts. I established the idea of giving an original gameboy game cartridge with each of those t-shirts.
This led me to look all over gameboy games and I ended up buying all of these for a great price.
The first thing I found happened to be the original gameboy my t-shirt was based around, I think this will make a brilliant prop for a photo-shoot, the model can be holding it in their hand as they walk or look as if they are playing on it. All in all it was a fun day hunting these down

Here are my printed labels. I attached them to my t-shirt using one of the badges from the packs I designed. I also decided to use this image for an A0 poster which is to be used for the fashion show at Bar So

Online Marketing

To make the brand name known I need to do some form of marketing, whether it be on the streets with street art or online via social networking sites. Being a member of Facebook and researching the numbers of people that use it for my essay, I thought it was best to start here first.

When creating my old clothing store ‘Deceived’ I set up a facebook group where people could find out info about the store. This could be in its simplest the store address a link to the website any promotional offers or pictures to see what I sold.

As the group had about 350 people I decided to re-use it and change all the content and name to fit Celebrity Sherbet, this way giving me instant notice with 350 people when the group’s name changes. I uploaded all the variuos pictures of my clothing designs and posted about the next fashion show on the 6th of May.

Already within a day I’m up to 415 members, which will hopefully continue to grow as people see that their friends have joined the group and if they invite people to the group it wil become like word of mouth which has more reassurance that the brand is good because it is your friend saying it then some corporate monster.
